What Is The Difference Between Kojic Acid & Hydroquinone As A Whitener?
Hydroquinone has been used for more than a decade as the quickest method for bleaching brown spots & dark skin. However, it is a synthetic agent and may cause skin irritations that might result in edema, erythema and desquamation. Therefore, it is a BANNED ingredient in skin care products in Malaysia & European countries and limited to a maximum concentration of 2% in North America due to safety concerns. The American Occupational Safety Hazard Administration (OSHA) concluded that hydroquinone is highly toxic and may cause mutations when used without precaution. In comparison Kojic acid is absolutely safe to human health as it is a natural product derived from rice/Sake.

Just to re-iterate in case of misunderstanding; Asiatic Beauty categorically state they DO NOT use Hydroquinone in any of their products.
They have all been inspected & tested by the Ministry for Health Malaysia hence the MAL number associated with their products. If there were any Hydroquinone present they would not have been granted the MAL number.
